It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of a great supporter, patron and friend of the band, Jessie Macfarlane. On Christmas Eve, the band plays carols along Kirkham Road in the village and have been invited in for a few drinks by Mrs MacFarlane for many years. Mark Rossall, on behalf of the band pays tribute to a great friend and supporter of Freckleton Band:
Freckleton band members old and new have received the sad news of the death of Mrs Jessie MacFarlane especially so for the members who have spent time with Jessie in her home on Christmas Eve for more years than can be remembered, on occasion coming out a bit worse for wear when staying longer than intended. She also supported the band as a Patron and any winnings she had in the monthly lottery draw were always returned to the band. Christmas Eve will have something missing this year but it has already been suggested we play a carol in memory of Jessie outside her house for the last time.
